Oklahoma’s seniors helped to build this state and pass on a legacy of hard work and strong values to their children. Today, they are being left behind and abandoned by a political system that has forgotten them.

Very low funding for the state’s Medicaid program has forced more than 100 nursing homes to close since 2000, and an additional 30 percent of Oklahoma’s skilled nursing facilities are in danger of closing their doors.

An estimated 20,000 elderly and frail Oklahomans rely on around-the-clock medical care. Yet, Oklahoma continues to send our tax dollars out-of-state, even as we continue to cut nursing home services in our communities.

We need to fix a broken system.  The Oklahoma Health Action Network is dedicated to finding a better way for Oklahoma’s most vulnerable seniors.
