Oklahoma’s seniors helped to build this state and pass on a legacy of hard work and strong values to their children. Today, they are being left behind and abandoned by a political system that has forgotten them.

Very low funding for the state’s Medicaid program has forced more than 100 nursing homes to close since 2000, and an additional 30 percent of Oklahoma’s skilled nursing facilities are in danger of closing their doors.

An estimated 20,000 elderly and frail Oklahomans rely on around-the-clock medical care. Yet, Oklahoma continues to send our tax dollars out-of-state, even as we continue to cut nursing home services in our communities.

We need to fix a broken system.  The Oklahoma Health Action Network is dedicated to finding a better way for Oklahoma’s most vulnerable seniors.

in honoring and supporting Oklahoma's vulnerable seniors by taking action to close the Medicaid funding gap. According to estimates from the OHCA, nursing home patients on Medicaid receive $44 less per day than the actual cost of care, creating significant strain on the state's long-term care infrastructure.

It's time for change. The Medicaid funding gap in Oklahoma is not just a financial issue; it's a moral imperative. It's contributing to a workforce crisis and threatening the future of senior care at a crucial time – as the demand for skilled nursing rises with the aging Baby Boomer population.

Take Action Now to Ensure Vital Care for Individuals With Developmental Disabilities

We are dedicated to advocating for the critical funding and support that Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals With Developmental Disabilities (ICF/IID) urgently require. Our mission is to rally advocates and community members to take action and drive meaningful change in policies and budget allocations to sustain these indispensable facilities.

Take Action

Oklahoma lawmakers must act now. By raising the Medicaid reimbursement rate to align with the actual cost of care, we can ensure that vulnerable seniors and individuals with intellectual disabilities do not face the risk of being deprived of high-quality care.

Together, let's champion this cause and transform the landscape of senior care in Oklahoma. Our seniors deserve dignified and compassionate support, and it starts with closing the Medicaid funding gap.

You can help make a difference.
